sid ή siduction?
Καλό το debian αλλά... Μετά από αδιάλειπτη χρήση του κυρίως στην έκδοση testing και λιγότερο στην έκδοση stable τα τελευταία τέσσερα χρόνια, αποφάσισα να αλλάξω λίγο και να περάσω στην sid έτσι για αλλαγή και να δω πώς πάει, γιατί διάβασα πολλά και διάφορα γι αυτήν. Πειραματιζόμενος με την sid, κάποια στιγμή έπεσε στην αντίληψή μου η siduction. Πρόκειται για μια διανομή που βασίζεται στην έκδοση sid του debian, Γερμανικής προέλευσης και πολύ χαμηλού προφίλ. Προς έκπληξή μου, είναι ήδη ο τέταρτος μήνας που βρίσκεται εγκατεστημένη στο pc μου, εξυπηρετώντας με σε όλες τις καθημερινές εργασίες. Κάνω λοιπόν μια πρώτη αναφορά στο τι παίζει μ' αυτήν.
Υπάρχει στις εκδόσεις Fluxbox, KDE, LXDE, Openbox, Razor-qt, Xfce. Χρησιμοποιώ την lxde.
Σήμερα, Δευτέρα 10 Σεπτεβρίου 2012, αυτό που έχω να προσθέσω είναι πως, εξακολουθώ να χρησιμοποιώ την siduction στην έκδοση lxde και, δεν νομίζω πως αυτό θα αλλάξει σύντομα. Έχω ό,τι χρειάζομαι: τα τελευταία πακέτα και την σαν βράχο αξιοπιστία του debian. Τι άλλο θα μπορούσα να ζητήσω;

Στην εγκατάσταση δεν δημιουργεί πρόβλημα άσε που είναι και αρκετά γρήγορη. Λίγη προσοχή μόνο στο partitioning. Είναι καλύτερα να είναι έτοιμα εκ των προτέρων γιατί αλλιώς μπορεί να μπερδευτούμε.
Τα repos βρίσκονται στο /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list και στο /etc/apt/sources.list.d/siduction.list οπότε πάμε αντίστοιχα:

-): η διεύθυνση των multimedia repos έχει αλλάξει και είναι πλέον όπως παραπάνω, οπότε αλλάζει αντίστοιχα και το deb-multimedia-keyring.
-): τα repos της έκδοσης sid (debian unstable) εξαρτώνται πάντα από την χώρα στην οποία βρισκόμαστε.
-): είναι επίσης 100% συμβατά με το siduction.

Μερικές ρυθμίσεις από το πρόχειρό μου:
## Ρύθμιση ώρας του υπολογιστή:
u2:$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata
## Ρύθμιση του πληκτρολογίου. Αυτό είναι απαραίτηηο στο lxde, μιας και δεν διαθέτει ρυθμίσεις για την αλλαγή του πληκτρολογίου από Ελληνικό σε Αγγλικό.
Στην κονσόλα βάζουμε:
$ sudo leafpad /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart
και στον φάκελο που θα μας ανοίξει το leafpad προσθέτουμε την παρακάτω γραμμή στις ήδη υπάρχουσες χωρίς να πειράξουμε τίποτα.

-): Εάν θέλουμε κι άλλη εφαρμογή να ξεκινάει αυτόματα στο desktop όπως π.χ το gkrellm τότε το προσθέτουμε κι αυτό, πάντα με το @ μπροστά του.

## Localpurge:
Ένα πρόγραμμα που θεωρώ απαραίτητο. Όχι μόνο ρυθμίζει τα της γλώσσας αλλά, σε κάθε dist-upgrade που κάνουμε, μας καθαρίζει την cache του apt-get βοηθώντας να κρατάμε καθαρό το σύστημα.
$ sudo aptitude install localepurge
